Salman Khan Hit & Run Case: Driver’s Statement Rejects

Salman Khan Hit and Run Case took a new turn when Salman’s driver claimed that he was at the wheel when the accident took place. The prosecution has vehemently opposed the statement and urged the Court to reject the driver’s claim.

On the final day of the case the prosecution put an argument that in the past 13 years since the dreaded accident took place killing one person and injuring several others, the presence of a fourth person in the vehicle had never come up.

Latest Bollywood News Public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat told the Judge D.W. Deshpande that it was difficult to believe the driver’s statement and also that his version should be rejected by the court.

The driver gave his statement on March 30, 2015, saying that it was him who was driving the car and not Salman Khan. According to Ashok Singh, he was driving the car and Salman Khan was in the passenger’s seat when the car’s tyre burst and the steering wheel became hard to control and he rammed into the bakery which ended in the death of one person and left several others injured. This statement comes after Salman Khan had recently told the court that he wasn’t drunk, as he was on a strict diet for his movie ‘Veer’ and had just plain ‘Water’ and was not on the driving seat.

Celebrity Gossip After the whole incident, twitter saw #SalmanKhan trending the whole day; the twitter made it a point to mock Salman Khan in every possible way.

The verdict of the case is yet to come out, if found guilty, Salman Khan could spend up to 10 years in prison.

He said enforcement teams of Delhi Police as well as the Health Department have been asked to conduct surprise inspections across the city to ensure that the ban is implemented. “The teams have been told to be active on this,” Jain said.

Latest News From India However, no such ban will be enforced on cigarettes. Health Department officials said that there was a Delhi government notification in September 2012 which was in pursuance of series of directions from the Supreme Court to ban gutkha in the city.

But since the ban mentioned the term Gutkha, the tobacco retailers started selling the components of gutkha (betel nut and raw tobacco) in separate pouches. So, the purpose of banning gutkha was not served.

Therefore, the health department last year started with a new proposal to ban all the raw chewable tobacco products in Delhi, a senior official said.

Stepping up its efforts towards tobacco control, the Health Department has also launched an innovative drive, creating a ‘Tobacco Aware Citizens’ Directory’ to spread the word about its harmful effects.

Microsoft Working On Software To Convert Android Phones To Windows 10

Technology News After Microsoft announced on their blog post that Windows 10 will release this summer, the company also added that it is working with Chinese handset maker Xiaomi to offer some customers a test version of Windows 10 on their smartphones.

Microsoft wrote said that, it will help a select group of Xiaomi Mi4 users ‘flash’ their phones with the new Windows 10 OS on their handsets and let them contribute to its future release later this year. These users will then use Windows 10 on their Mi4 devices and provide valuable feedback. Xiaomi stresses that this is not a partnership but an initiative. This move portrays Microsoft’s new platform through a unique approach, points out TechCrunch.

As the company uses the word ‘flash’ here, it indicates that Microsoft will offer a ROM, similar to custom ROMs like CyanogenMod, to install their OS on the Android smartphone. Microsoft will deliver Windows 10 ROM for Mi 4 users with a software that helps convert an Android phone into a Windows 10 phone, complete with access to all Microsoft services, added the report.

But the bigger news is that Microsoft will soon be rolling out this feature out to other devices as well.

With this move, Microsoft could attract many Android users to Windows 10, without having the need to to purchase another phone. Microsoft also added in their blog that China is an ideal Market for testing such an initiative, given the region’s relative lack of lock-in to Google services and a general affinity towards custom ROMs.

Coal Scam: Sonia Gandhi Leads Solidarity March To Manmohan Singh’s Residence

The entire top Congress leadership including Sonia Gandhi today took to the streets to express solidarity with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who has been summoned as accused in a coal scam case, with the party President calling it “outrageous”.

Latest News India The Congress leaders also attacked the government accusing it of maintaining a “studied silence” after the CBI had told the court that there was no criminality involved in the allocation of Talabira Coal Blocks II to Hindalco company of Aditya Birla group in Odisha in 2005 when Singh also held the portfolio of coal. Gandhi declared that they would fight the case with all legal means at their command.

“I was outraged at the news that summons had been served to Manmohan Singh,” the Congress President said.

The former Prime Minister had yesterday expressed confidence that he will prove his innocence in a fair trial.

“Of course, I am upset but this is part of life. I have always said I am open for legal scrutiny I am sure the truth will prevail and I will get a chance to put forward my case with all the facts,” Singh had said.

A special court had summoned Singh along with industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla, ex-coal secretary P C Parakh and three others as accused in a case pertaining to allocation of Talabira-II coal block in Odisha in 2005 and asked them to appear before it on April 8.

South Africa Hit 408/5, Second Highest In Total World Cup

SYDNEY: South Africa made 408 for five against the West Indies on Friday, the second-highest World Cup total of all time.

In the process, South Africa captain AB de Villiers smashed the second-fastest World Cup Century off 52 balls in the Pool B game at the Sydney Cricket Ground before finishing on 162 not out.

The highest World Cup total is 413 for five made by India against Bermuda, a non-Test nation, in Trinidad in 2007.

The fastest ever World Cup century was made by Ireland’s Kevin O’Brien, off 50 balls, against England in Bangalore during the 2011 tournament.

“It was a very enjoyable knock today. The foundation from the boys at the start freed me up,” said de Villiers.

“I had a bit of luck here and there. I’m not a huge fan of setting targets but we had plans in place of reaching 300 halfway through the innings. This game is only half way and the only thing on my mind is winning it. We want to go and defend this total now.”

Sports News, World Cup 2015 Live Update

Friday’s innings was the second time in as many months that de Villiers had hammered the West Indies attack after smashing the quickest all-time one-day international century, off just 31 balls, against them in Johannesburg on January 18.

Swine Flu-Hit Gujarat, Doctors Struggle as Hospitals are Swamped with Patients

Latest News : AHMEDABAD seems to have become the epicenter of Gujarat’s Swine Flu menace; of the 255 cases reported across the state, 129 are in the city.
And of the 12 deaths recorded in the state in the last 24 hours, four were in Ahmedabad.

Dr Rajesh Solanki, who heads the pulmonary medicine department of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, is trying to tackle the many swine flu cases being reported in the last few days. He is helped by a team of doctors and para-medical staffers, at the custom-made swine flu Out Patient’s Department at the civil hospital.

But the medical staff is overworked and may be at risk themselves. Three medicos at the hospital have already tested positive for swine flu.

Doctors say enough safeguards are in place, but as the hospital is swamped with cases, most of the 150 doctors at the civil hospital are working with barely any breaks.

“A sizeable number of patients who visit the OPD turn out to be affected by the virus so the pressure is much more, but we are working round-the-clock to ensure that they are taken care of,” Dr Solanki told NDTV.

Most cases of swine flu are reported too late for them to be treated in time, say doctors, claiming late diagnosis is the primary reason for the rising number of deaths.

But the government may also have reacted late to the growing crisis. Door-to-door surveys were launched just about a week ago, after the number of swine flu cases shot up; OPDs to handle swine flu cases were set up only 10 days ago.

Government doctors, meanwhile, are hopeful that a change in weather may help bring the number of swine flu cases down. “In the next one week, we expect the virus to hit a saturation point and then there will be a dip in such cases,” said Dr Solanki. View Source By : ndtv
